Make a Hero Sessions
Because storytelling is going to be hard if it’s without good characters.
So, you’ve attended a D&D Beginner’s Night and you loved it! What’s the next step?
It’s time to make your own character!
Playing a pre-made character is an easy way to get started, but making your own character to play is one of the greatest joys of D&D! To spend the time to do the work and fill a character sheet with a fun, unique personality! And then you get to test that hero by sending them into a Red Lion Contract for their first adventure!
The trouble is that if you search online for “How to make a D&D character”, you’ll be faced with a lot of maths, and a lot of options, and a lot of work! Making a character from scratch is not easy, especially when you don’t know what’s possible.
That’s the problem the Red Lion Adventuring Company hopes to solve; by providing you with a helping hand and an easy process to follow.
In this 2 hour session, you will…
Gain an understanding of the different sections and purposes of the D&D character sheet.
Learn an easy process for making new characters for 5th edition (2024 revised) Dungeons & Dragons.
Understand how “Levelling Up” works in D&D, and level your new character to Level 3.
Work with an experienced D&D veteran to discuss and build on character ideas, backstory elements, personality traits, and a way to embody that character..
At the end of the session, you’ll have a complete character idea and character sheet which you can bring to any Red Lion Contract game!

You do not need to prepare anything, but your character creating will move much smoother if you have some ideas prepared before the day.
Dungeons & Dragons traditionally takes place in the medieval fantasy world of knights, mages, princesses and dragons, but you can make a character inspired by any ancient civilisation, such as the noble Samurai of ancient Japan, the macuahuitl-wielding warriors of Mesoamerica, the (historically-incorrect) horn-helmed Nordic Vikings, or even the mysterious Celtic druids! Remember, magic exists in Dungeons & Dragons too!
